Pink Fancy Diamond Fetches $13 Million at Christie’s Auction

A pink diamond ring was the top seller at the recent Christie’s jewelry auction in New York. With a sale price of $13.3 million, it surpassed its high estimate of $9 to $12 million. “The Eden Rose exceeded all expectations” said Rahul Kadakia, the international head of jewelry at Christie’s.*

The world of fancy colored diamonds made a significant impact at Christie’s Magnificent Jewels Auction, held on June 11, 2024, in New York. The pink gem, set in a ring, led the strong showing of colored diamonds at the event.

Over the past 12 months, prices for 1-carat Fancy Vivid Pink diamonds have risen by 12 percent.** According to the FCRF¹, the price of pink diamonds has surged by 399 percent since 2005.

“In light of the fluctuations in most financial markets and the weak performance of colorless diamonds, it is reassuring to see colored diamonds as an island of stability in this financial climate”, said David Shara, data provider for the FCRF¹.**
