Authenticity of diamonds
Artificial diamonds have the same properties as natural diamonds but are on average 75 percent cheaper. The difference can be detected in the lab as well as with measuring instruments. The authenticity of diamonds is also certified by institutions such as Hoge Raad voor Diamant (HRD), American Gem Society Laboratories (AGS), International Gemological Laboratories (IGL), Antwerp International Gemological Laboratories (AIG), and International Gemological Institute (IGI).
